Let's hear it for our Champion. Our recently crowned winner recently took to Monza to enjoy the ultimate season prize. With four points finishes including two pole positions, nobody could have been better equipped to spend the weekend with the team as they made their final preparations for the race.
Kathy and her husband Darren proved they know how to handle more than just taxis. See how their weekend unfolded from the garage, the paddock to the moment she revealed the secret of her success to Lewis and Heikki. Good work Morrells!

The second Taxi Grand Prix was a bumper ride with pit stops, power ups and overtakes galore. Cab F1 came through in the final stages snatching that podium place and taking home tickets for a McLaren Technology Centre tour, signed Vodafone McLaren Mercedes merchandise and a HTC MagicTM phone. Here’s what he said about the race.
How does it feel to be the German Taxi GP winner?
It feels great to win; I'm really looking forward to going to the McLaren Tech Centre and meeting some of the team
How did you do it – what was your race strategy?
To win! Big thanks to Salar for getting me through the last 5kms in the nick of time!
Who's your favourite driver?
They’re all great, love the banter they have with each other, I would probably say Andy or Salar - as they’re Welsh
What’s going to be your approach for the Hungarian Taxi GP?
Hopefully to get some points and win the overall race…obviously ;)
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to be the overall Championship winner?
I hope so, I can’t think of anything better than going to Monza as a guest of McLaren and Vodafone and getting to meet Lewis and Heikki
British Taxi Grand Prix winner
Winner
Richard Findlay
Team
We caught up with the winner of the first Vodafone Taxi Grand Prix to find out what his race strategy was and what it was like to get behind the wheel with Lewis Hamilton.
Richard, how do you feel after your win?
Absolutely brilliant, fantastic experience.
Tell us a bit about your team name
My team name is Piperettes after our dog, a Jack Russell Spaniel named Piper.
What will be your approach for the next race?
I think that as I’ve won it this way I’ll probably take a similar sort of approach. Perhaps now I will look more closely at it and will take a more active part in it.
How was your hot lap with Lewis Hamilton?
That was brilliant…absolutely excellent driving as you’d expect. Lewis had full control of the car and the middle lap, Lewis even had time to wave to the crowd.
What did you chat about with Lewis?
Lewis was explaining where to accelerate, where you’re flat out, what sort of speeds you can get to and how to take the corners. The rest of the time he was really concentrating on the driving.
How was your tour of the pits?
That was really exciting, I’ve seen a lot of it on TV but being right close up and seeing how clinical it is. It’s ultra clean, very high tech.
Any tips for other Vodafone Taxi Grand Prix racers?
I think the first thing is to participate, because if you don’t participate there’s no chance of you winning. And keep monitoring it and keep improving..
